The Municipal Corporation, Amritsar started construction of 4-lane Elevated Road from Maqboolpura Chowk to Bhandari Bridge of about 3.25 Kms length and 17.2 mtr in width on a single pier and a two lane Elevated Road from Ram Talai Chowk to Golden Temple 0.9 Kms., in length & 8.50 mtr to 12.5 mtr width with a cost of Rs. 210 Crores. This Project is also approved under Jawaharlal Nehru Nation Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) Ministry of Urban Development, Govt. of India for Rs. 149.49 crores under this scheme Govt. of India will bear the cost of this Project for Rs. 74.74 crores the balance amount will be bear by State Govt and MCA Rs. 29.89 crores and Rs. 105.35 crores respectivly . At present both Govt. of India & State Govt. have released their payment of total amount Rs. 74.74 crores & Rs. 29.89 crores respectively to MCA.
