The State Govt. decided to start City Bus Service Project in various cities of Punjab Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana on Indore City (Madhya Pradesh) pattern under Public Private Participation. Under this scheme 4nos busiest routes in the city has been identified and notified by the State Transport Commissioner Punjab i) Verka to District Court ii) Chheharta to Bus Stand iii) Central Jail to Chattiwind Gate iv) Daburji to District Court. This project is in advance stage and regular meetings are conducted under the Chairmanship of Worthy Chief Secretary Punjab Chandigarh to implement this project during the financial year. MCA called tenders for Rs. 100 lacs for construction of Bus terminal for night stay of Buses at Mall Mandi which include offices of Bus operators, Workshop and special purpose company office etc. In these Buses Tickets will be supplied by the conductor through Electronic Ticketing Machine and G.P.S. (Global Positioning System) will also be providing in Buses and at Bus Stops so the passengers can know the position of Buses. The colour of Buses on each route will be different.
